Following its debut at Fuorisalone 2023 during Milan Design Week and further development at the Landscape Festival in Bergamo, the installation Grow Together, Grow Green will once again take on a new form at LUGA 2025 — an open-air exhibition dedicated to urban gardens, landscape, and art installations.
Viewed through the lens of collaborative action, TOPOTEK 1’s approach to urban reforestation goes beyond a singular act of planting by weaving a narrative of shared responsibility. Encouraging collective participation and incremental afforestation, the project highlights how individual actions can contribute to broader urban climate solutions. Each iteration reaffirms the installation’s role as both a symbolic and practical tool for urban reforestation, inviting individual citizens to improve urban climate conditions expanding tree coverage in cities.
At LUGA 2025, the installation, assembled by scaffolding and covered with region-specific seedlings will take the shape of a stepped structure. Accessible from both sides it invites visitors to climb up, gather on the platform, and engage with their surroundings. Below the scaffolding, the LUGA Lab will host workshops and discussions, creating a space for cultural exchange. Over 10.000 seedlings of thirteen different species will be distributed, continuing a collective commitment to the sustainable transformation of the urban environment. Visitors are encouraged to register and collect their seedlings as part of a “give-away” process, where a selection of seedlings are offered from May to October. By documenting the journey of each seedling through a dedicated QR code system that feeds into a visual archive on Instagram, every participant contributes to an unfolding urban story of reforestation.
The installation’s robust design and its ability to be assembled, disassembled, and reactivated underscore its role as a replicable model for urban ecologies seeking sustainable transformation. Grow Together, Grow Green serves as both tangible urban art as well as a social tool, where each planted seed stands as a testimony to the strength of collective responsibility.
