Broad Street Downtown Atlanta

Show project on map

The research project in Atlanta reflects on the extension of street typologies and creating three new ones: the design envisions an art space, a happening, and a „garden street“ – a linear park that offers engaging vibrant spaces taking advantage of the pedestrian-dominated use by providing a diverse programme for multiple user groups.

The proposed landscape design defines the zoning of the spaces and creates a stimulating background. White curves on the ground highlight the notion of creativity and flexibility: their seeming random order invites the users to improvise the flow of their actions — be it a sports game or a simple walk. Simultaneously, the project works with the surrounding architecture: colourful solutions highlight the historic buildings of Downtown Atlanta.

The art space version proposes multiple creative interventions and colourful decorative elements, while the happening concept explores public settings in open spaces with active social engagement.
